Hi everyone! My name is Hannah Pickens and it was quite a task to decide what to say about myself but I decided to make a list of 25 facts that give a little bit of an idea of what kind of person I am.
So in no particular order…
- I’ve had more nicknames than I can count, but you can only call me by a nickname if you make it up yourself because if you steal from other people, that’s just lame!
- I was born and raised in Santa Cruz, California.
- I lived in the same house my whole life until this past fall when I transferred from community college to Spring Arbor University in Michigan. (Go Cougars!!)
- I’m a junior, soon to be a senior!!
- I’m studying to be a high school math and biology teacher.
- I don’t currently work other than tutoring a few hours a week, but in the summers I work at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk in food service.
- In my free time, (which is rather scarce as of late), I love just hanging out with friends doing whatever: talking about life and God, taking long walks, going on crazy adventures to who knows where.
- I try to not watch too much tv or movies because they really can rot your brain but…..
- Movies: The Lord of the Rings trilogy is the best of all time; other than that my favorites are yes, chick-flicks: 27 Dresses, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Leap Year, 500 Days of Summer, The Holiday, A Walk to Remember, A Cinderella Story, etc. However, I like anything that isn’t too terribly boring, gory, or inappropriate.
- TV: The OFFICE=best show of all time.
- If I’m by myself, I usually will listen to music, do whatever it is we all do on Facebook, improvise on the piano while singing worship songs, work on my oh-so-prevalent-homework… (though of course that will be no more once summer is here, yay!)
- I LOVE honey-dew melon! It’s basically the best food ever.
- I can make a mean soft-serve ice cream cone.
- According to the Myers Briggs personality test, I am 80% extrovert.
- I need my sleep...I try to get at least 8 hours a night. (For those of you living on a college campus, you know how difficult this can be.)
- I’ve been to at least half the states in the US.
- I have 3 brothers and 3 sisters. (I’m numero 5)
- I of course love all my siblings but my brothers have a special place in my heart.
- My parents are awesome, and my mom is the best cook ever.
- I was homeschooled until college but no, I am not socially inept.
- I am, however, a nerd. Academics have always been my thing.
- I love math.
- I ADORE little dogs. I have a Maltese named Cotton Pickens. He’s pretty much the cutest dog ever.
- The beach is one of my favorite places. There really isn’t anything quite like the ocean air and the feeling of swimming in the ice cold but oh-so-refreshing water of the Pacific.
- Yes, I’m from the best surf-spot in the nation but no, I’m not a surfer. I do plan on learning one of these days though. If you come to visit maybe we can learn together, yes? Okay, sounds good!
Ha ha…yes this has been a random word vomit of facts about me but hey…you asked right? Maybe not, but you will probably learn all these things eventually any way so now you have a head start!
I really have never been on a mission trip before, but I’ve always wanted to. I almost went on one to Mexico once, but the trip got cancelled due to the violence going on there at the time. So I’m really looking forward to this summer. I feel so honored that God is entrusting this ministry opportunity to me. I can’t wait to see Him move in amazing ways there in Thailand!
I’m so excited to meet and get to know all of you! This summer is going to be great!!
