Hi everyone! My name is Hannah Pickens and it was quite a task to decide what to say about myself but I decided to make a list of 25 facts that give a little bit of an idea of what kind of person I am.

So in no particular order…
  1. I’ve had more nicknames than I can count, but you can only call me by a nickname if you make it up yourself because if you steal from other people, that’s just lame!
  2. I was born and raised in Santa Cruz, California.
  3. I lived in the same house my whole life until this past fall when I transferred from community college to Spring Arbor University in Michigan. (Go Cougars!!)
  4. I’m a junior, soon to be a senior!!
  5. I’m studying to be a high school math and biology teacher.
  6. I don’t currently work other than tutoring a few hours a week, but in the summers I work at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk in food service.
  7. In my free time, (which is rather scarce as of late), I love just hanging out with friends doing whatever: talking about life and God, taking long walks, going on crazy adventures to who knows where.
  8. I try to not watch too much tv or movies because they really can rot your brain but…..
  9. Movies: The Lord of the Rings trilogy is the best of all time; other than that my favorites are yes, chick-flicks: 27 Dresses, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Leap Year, 500 Days of Summer, The Holiday, A Walk to Remember, A Cinderella Story, etc. However, I like anything that isn’t too terribly boring, gory, or inappropriate.
  10. TV: The OFFICE=best show of all time.
  11. If I’m by myself, I usually will listen to music, do whatever it is we all do on Facebook, improvise on the piano while singing worship songs, work on my oh-so-prevalent-homework… (though of course that will be no more once summer is here, yay!)
  12. I LOVE honey-dew melon! It’s basically the best food ever.
  13. I can make a mean soft-serve ice cream cone.
  14. According to the Myers Briggs personality test, I am 80% extrovert.
  15. I need my sleep...I try to get at least 8 hours a night. (For those of you living on a college campus, you know how difficult this can be.)
  16. I’ve been to at least half the states in the US.
  17. I have 3 brothers and 3 sisters. (I’m numero 5)
  18. I of course love all my siblings but my brothers have a special place in my heart.
  19. My parents are awesome, and my mom is the best cook ever.
  20. I was homeschooled until college but no, I am not socially inept.
  21. I am, however, a nerd. Academics have always been my thing.
  22. I love math.
  23. I ADORE little dogs. I have a Maltese named Cotton Pickens. He’s pretty much the cutest dog ever.
  24. The beach is one of my favorite places. There really isn’t anything quite like the ocean air and the feeling of swimming in the ice cold but oh-so-refreshing water of the Pacific.
  25. Yes, I’m from the best surf-spot in the nation but no, I’m not a surfer. I do plan on learning one of these days though. If you come to visit maybe we can learn together, yes? Okay, sounds good!

Ha ha…yes this has been a random word vomit of facts about me but hey…you asked right? Maybe not, but you will probably learn all these things eventually any way so now you have a head start!

I really have never been on a mission trip before, but I’ve always wanted to. I almost went on one to Mexico once, but the trip got cancelled due to the violence going on there at the time.  So I’m really looking forward to this summer. I feel so honored that God is entrusting this ministry opportunity to me.  I can’t wait to see Him move in amazing ways there in Thailand!

I’m so excited to meet and get to know all of you! This summer is going to be great!!
